Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for giving the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour and postnatal period. Ability to conduct normal deliveries, care for the newborn infant and take charge in the absence of the Nursing officer.
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
- Conducting normal deliveries, care for the newborn infant, detecting early abnormal conditions and refers them to the doctor
- Ensuring all procedures are carried out according to Set Standards in the Procedure Manuals
- Ensuring that patients receive quality nutritious meals to enhance recovery
- Providing total comfort for the patients by ensuring a safe and infection free environment
- Ensuring that ward equipment is in good working condition
- Controlling usage of ward stocks i.e. drugs, including Dangerous Drug Act (DDA’s), surgical supplies, stationery, linen, equipment
- Reporting to Nursing Officer or Medical Officer on patients’ condition
- Educating and preparing mothers for parenthood
- Writing and giving an informative, accurate report on patients to staff taking over the shift
- Development of subordinates
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Nursing
- Advanced Diploma in Midwifery
- Fully registered with Nurses and Midwifery Council of Zambia
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
