The Company seeks the services of an Occupational Health Officer (x1). The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, organizing, coordinating, and communicating on all general activities of the clinic. The candidate shall also be expected to ensure effective and efficient management of medical and surgical illnesses and coordination of emergency medical response and management of occupational illnesses.

The responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to the following:

  • To effectively communicate or report clinic incidences to relevant officials
  • Monitor and control the utilization of clinic stocks and equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping by ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
  • Keep accurate, concise, and complete records of all clinic activities, submit statistics as per statutory and company requirements.
  • Organize wellness sensitization programs for the workforce.
  • Supervision of subordinates
  • Management of mine accident victims to ensure speedy recovery from injury or illness on site
  • Make quick diagnosis and treatment of emergencies
  • Effectively respond with the mobile emergency medical facility
  • Conduct medical surveillance and follow up on occupational illnesses.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Nursing/Diploma in Medicine.
  • Mining First Aid Certificate.
  • Certificate/Diploma in Occupation Health, Basic Life Support /Intermediate Life Support  / Advanced Life Support will be an added advantage.
  • 2 Years of post-graduation experience
  • Good understanding of Occupational illnesses and disorders, and emergency trauma management.

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
