MOPANI CEO CALLS FOR INTEGRITY & TEAMWORK

Mopani Copper Mines PLC Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Charles Sakanya, has reaffirmed the importance of resilience, teamwork and integrity at the workplace as cornerstones of the company’s future success.

“Despite facing many challenges, you [Mopani employees] have shown remarkable resilience and dedication; your steadfast commitment has been essential in keeping the company moving forward,” Mr. Sakanya told the employees at the Mindola People Growth Centre in Kitwe.

He commended Mopani employees for their unwavering commitment to the company through challenging times and encouraged employees to remain united while embracing diversity in the workplace.

“Unity is essential to reaching our shared goals. At Mopani, teamwork means aligning our efforts and pulling in one direction to achieve common goals. Stealing from Mopani is like stealing from ourselves. We must ‘Muda’ (eliminate) behaviors that harm our organisation. Acting with integrity is crucial to building a stronger Mopani for all,” he stated.

Since the arrival of International Resources Holding (IRH) as the majority strategic equity partner in Mopani Copper Mines PLC, the company has embarked on a companywide culture transformation initiative dubbed “TukaChimfya Pamo” to promote collaborative mindset and teamwork in the workplace.

Mopani has also introduced a performance-based bonus system to reward employees for their good performance and exceptional conduct as the company continues working towards the actualisation of its vision to ‘become a world champion mine through BEST values’.

“Our partnership with IRH is built on a shared vision of growth and opportunity. It allows us to chart a confident path forward for Mopani and the community,” Mr. Sakanya stated.

“Our bonus system operates like a quantum, linking rewards with performance. So, let’s make sure we work towards our goal. We cannot achieve if each one of us works in isolation. Each of us has a responsibility to promote togetherness. When Mopani thrives, we all thrive. Together, we can make Mopani a place of shared prosperity for us and the next generations to come.”

Speaking at the same event, IRH Director of Operations, Gareth Taylor, outlined a compelling vision for Mopani’s future growth highlighting the importance of determination and a unified mindset.

“If given the opportunity and clarity of mind, nothing will hold you back. Mopani represents IRH’s first step into mining, and we are committed to making it a model for the industry. Our strong performance today is what will set the bar for tomorrow’s achievements,” Mr. Taylor said.

“Be free to share with us the challenges you are facing without fear, but with facts. We want to foster an environment of trust and transparency. The values of TukaChimfya Pamo should reach beyond the workplace and be a part of everything we do.”

Mopani has over the past six months been holding a series of workshops to align its employees and all stakeholders to the new vision, operating philosophy, BEST values and other aspects of the TukaChimfya Pamo corporate culture initiative
