Mopani Copper Mines PLC continues to provide high quality education from Reception to Tertiary level. The Company runs four high quality schools; a primary and a secondary school in Kitwe and another set of a primary and secondary school in Mufulira as well as a Mining and Engineering skills training centre in Mufulira. The MCM Nkana Primary and Secondary Schools and MCM Mufulira Primary and Secondary Schools have since 2008 recorded a 100 percent pass rate in all national examinations at Grades 7, 9 and 12 levels, making them some of the most highly sought-after schools in the two districts.
The Mopani Central Training Centre (MCTC), on the other hand, has continued churning out mining industry-oriented graduates thereby attracting students from across the sub-region and as far as Liberia in West Africa. The Mufulira-based MCTC is fully accredited with the Zambian Government’s Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA).
