Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
• Efficiently operate Peirce- Smith Converters.
• Determine converter process using SEMTECH OPC.
• Conduct converter pre blow checks and correct deviations.
• Efficiently operate all converter utility systems.
• Supervise converter tuyere puncher and conveyor attendant.
• Follow safety, health and environmental requirements of converters.
• Liase with power plant, acid plant and ISASMELT to optimize Peirce-Smith Converter operations.
• Inspect and fill Checklist of Equipment’s in the plant.
• Ensure good housekeeping.
• Reporting breakdowns in the plant.
• Compiling shift report and submits to supervisor.
• Carrying out instructions correctly as given to him by the supervisor and takes remedial action to prevent occurrence of non-conforming conditions.
• Adhering to all other assignments that are given that are lawful and fair.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• 3 years’ experience in operating Peirce-Smith Converters.
• Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining or process plant.
• All academic and profession qualification should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
