Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
• Supervise and lead a team of mobile equipment technicians and mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as haul trucks(CAT/SANDVIK/BELL), loaders(CAT/SANDVIK), drills (SANDVIK/EPIROC), and other underground mining machinery.
• Plan, schedule, and assign daily maintenance tasks and repairs to the team, ensuring the timely completion of all work in accordance with company standards.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices for underground mining operations.
• Monitor the performance of mobile equipment, identify potential issues, and coordinate preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and increase operational efficiency.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and lead repairs for mobile equipment breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, using advanced tools and techniques.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with other departments, including safety and operations, to ensure smooth coordination of maintenance activities and to address any operational challenges.
• Ensure team members follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
• Provide leadership in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the mobile equipment fleet.
• Adhering to all other assignments that are given that are lawful and fair.
• Drive the health, safety and environment standards/policy awareness and practice in the Department to ensure compliance.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• HER-technical certifications in mobile equipment maintenance or related fields preferred.
• Relevant mining safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, MSHA or other industry-specific training) are an asset.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mobile equipment maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or foreman role within an underground mining environment.
• Knowledge of underground mine safety practices and regulations.
• All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
