The Company Seeks the Services of a Theatre Nurse x 1
Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
• Ensuring adequate preparation of theatre before operations start, taking into consideration the day’s list, emergencies and surgeon’s preferences.
• Ensuring Theatre equipment is in good working conditions and report faulty equipment to the Nursing Officer.
• Ensuring high standards of sterility in processing of surgical instruments i.e. Autoclaving.
• Ensuring adequate preparation of the patient before the operation is done.
• Providing skilled assistance to anaesthetist pre-operatively.
• Preventing cross infection by practicing aseptic techniques on all the patients pre-operatively.
• Ensuring safety and welfare of the patients. Being part of the scrub up team as a scrub nurse and Provide skilled assistance during operation.
• Observing swab, instruments and needle count policy.
• Liaising with other departments to ensure smooth flow of operating theatre activities.
• Controlling the use of medical and surgical stocks.
• Supervising subordinates.
• Educating students and the junior staff.
• Being in charge of operating theatre in the absence of the Nursing Officer.
• Adhering to all other assignments given that are lawful and fair.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Diploma in Nursing.
• Advanced Diploma in Theatre Nursing.
• All academic and profession qualification should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
• Fully registered with Nurses and Midwifery Council of Zambia.
• At least 2 years’ experience in the Nursing profession.
• Strong Problem-solving Skills and the ability to make decision quickly.
• High level of professionalism and ethics.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
