Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
- Ensuring that all observations and routine tests are done and well documented.
- Guiding and supervising ward activities in the absence of the Nursing Officer.
- Ensuring properly written and executed admission procedure. Provide quality nursing care.
- Ensuring that all procedures are carried out according to Set Standards in the Procedure Manuals.
- Controlling usage of ward stocks i.e. drugs, including DDA’s, surgical supplies, stationary, linen, equipment.
- Ensuring that patients receive quality nutritious meals to enhance recovery.
- Providing total comfort for the patients by ensuring a safe and Infection Free Environment.
- Report to Nursing Officer or Medical Officer on patients’ condition.
- Educating and preparing mothers for parenthood.
- Writing and giving an informative, accurate report on patients, to staff in next shift.
- Maintain good housekeeping on the ward.
- Development of subordinates.
- Working hand in hand with Nursing Officer in the development of subordinates.
- Adhering to all other assignments given that are lawful and fair.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Diploma in Nursing.
- Advanced Diploma in midwifery.
- All academic and profession qualification should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
- Fully registered with Nurses and Midwifery Council of Zambia.
- At least 2 years’ experience in the Nursing profession.
- Strong Problem-solving Skills and the ability to make decision quickly.
- High level of professionalism and ethics.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and corporate objectives.
