Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
- Run all mine planning functions for the value addition.
- Coordinate all mine planning activities in compliance with mining standards for value addition.
- Evaluate economic viability of the value-add areas.
- Scrutinize development and stope designs to ensure they meet acceptable standards.
- Analyze conceptual plans to ensure they are cost effective, meet set standards and statutory requirements.
- Generate production Life of Mine (LOM) schedules from the value-add areas and prepare reserves from the LOM schedules.
- Advise management on the best options to adopt in mining with respect to their cost and caution management of likelihood of future shortcomings with respect to mining.
- Ensure all designs generated in the area of responsibility conform to the safety, health and environmental requirements obtaining in the mining industry.
- Drive the health, safety and environment standards/policy awareness and practice in the Department to ensure compliance.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- Degree/Diploma Mining Engineering.
- Member of EIZ & should be registered with ERB.
- Two (02) years practical underground and open pit mining experience in operations.
- Five (05) Years or more Planning Engineer experience.
- Must have experience in mine design software – Surpac, MineSched and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of the Zambian Mining Regulations.
- All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and corporate objectives.
