ENHANCING COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT THROUGH COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS

Mopani Copper Mines PLC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability Manager, Lorraine Tembo, recently visited Kangwa Bwalya, Managing Director of Metal Fabricators of Zambia Plc (ZAMEFA), at his office in Luanshya.

The purpose of this courtesy call was to express appreciation for ZAMEFA’s ongoing support of the copper jewelry-making programme in Mufulira.

This partnership has so far empowered 20 young women from the Kankoyo and Kantanshi communities through targeted training initiatives.

As part of a broader commitment to promoting sustainable economic growth and add value in the local mining sector, this intensive three-month training programme was held at the Mopani Central Training Centre (MCTC).

Participants learned to create both simple and intricate copper jewelry artifacts, with the objective of producing “truly Zambian-made products” that can compete on the global stage.
