STEMBody 360 CATALYZER BOOTCAMP

STEMBody 360 CATALYZER BOOTCAMP

Over the past week, Mopani hosted young schoolgirls through the STEM Bootcamp, an intensive programme designed to equip participants with practical, STEM-based skills. The camp was held from 24th to 27th August 2026, at MCM Mufulira and Kitwe Schools.

The programme aimed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire the next generation of Zambian women in STEM. A total of 271 girls from schools within Mopani’s host communities of Mufulira and Kitwe participated in the Boot Camp which took place over a period of four days.

Beyond classroom learning, the Boot Camp provided participants with practical experiences, exposure to diverse career possibilities, and access to role models who could inspire and guide them in making informed decisions about their future education and career pathways.

The girls took part in learning modules covering:

  1. Engineering and Design Systems
  2. Coding and Robotics
  3. Personal Branding and Financial Literacy
  4. First Aid and Menstrual Health
  5. Climate Change and Agriculture

Through initiatives such as the STEMBody 360 Catalyser Programme, Mopani remains committed to supporting young people and contributing to the sustainable development of the communities in which it operates.

This programme also reflects Mopani’s dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 5 and 9 — Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by creating opportunities for girls to develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to participate meaningfully in the STEM fields of the future.
