Mopani Copper Mines PLC supports over 10 sports clubs across all disciplines: football, golf, tennis, swimming, squash and rugby. Of the clubs supported by the Company, three; namely Nkana Football Club, Nkana Golf Club and Mufulira Tennis Club, have in recent years set up junior academies to tap and nurture talent from the communities at a tender age in both Mufulira and Kitwe.
Mopani Copper Mines PLC continues to upgrade sports infrastructure for the supported clubs leading to some of them being able to now host big international tournaments and national events: Nkana Golf Club (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 – Zambia Open Golf tournaments), Nkana Stadium (2017 commemoration of the National Day of Prayer and 2013, 2017, 2018 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations football tournament), Mufulira Rugby Club stadium (Annual Muf Seven Aside and Zambia National Team international matches).
