Job Purpose

The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain resilient LAN, WAN, and unified voice infrastructure across all business sites.
  • Ensure 98%+ uptime through proactive monitoring, rapid fault resolution, and performance optimization.
  • Patch, harden, and audit network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, voice equipment) in line with ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, and the Zambian Data Protection Act.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on risk assessments, threat responses, and incident handling
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
  • Configure and manage VLANs, ACLs, firewall rules, and switch settings.
  • Conduct regular health checks and maintain a documented change and incident log.
  • Respond to and resolve network or voice hardware/software issues, minimizing downtime.
  • Keep network topology diagrams, IP schemas, and asset inventories up to date.
  • Generate monthly performance and incident reports; create user guides and training materials.
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures and test failover capabilities quarterly.
  • Plan and execute network integration for new sites or departments with minimal disruption
  • Manage third-party vendors and maintain accurate Scopes of Work (SOWs).
  • Assist procurement by defining technical specs for equipment and services.
  • Use monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) for real-time visibility and early fault detection
  • Create dashboards, set alerts for unusual traffic, and address performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize wireless networks through AP tuning and spectrum analysis
  • Conduct fibre splicing, cable rerouting, and dome joint installations during expansions or repairs
  • Monitor server/network room climate and power conditions for resilience.
  • Track hardware lifecycle and recommend timely replacements
  • Work with system and application teams to optimize network resources for cloud, VoIP, and SaaS usage
  • Liaise with ISPs for provisioning, support, and troubleshooting of leased lines and voice circuits

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Telecommunications or related field from a reputable institution
  • At least 3 years of hands-on technical experience working in a networking environment.
  • Must have solid experience in fiber optic cable splicing, jointing, and troubleshooting
  • Certification in Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) will be an added advantage
  • All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualification Authority
