The Company Seeks the Services of a Sectional Surveyor x1
Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:
- Supervises and organizes work in the section.
- Carry out general surveys on surface and/or underground for the direction and grade control of main levels, major developments and main incline developments including drains, shafts, setting out of roads, etc
- Calculates volumes of surface stockpile, dams and excavations; check surveys, provide mining information to miners, and measure up to month-end mining development advances and calculate volumes extracted.
- Check and correlate surveyors’ monthly reports relating to development, mining and production and provide mining and/or construction information and working plans to the various departments (e.g. Geology and Mining) requesting/survey work.
- Ensures that own crew carry out duties as delegated smoothly and that equipment are kept clean and tidy.
- Drive the health, safety and environment standards/policy awareness and practice in the Department to ensure compliance.
To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics Engineering, Diploma or equivalent in Surveying.
- Experience in using surveying equipment like disto, dumpy or electronic levels, Total Stations, GPS equipment etc.
- Must have 4 years working experience preferably in underground surveying.
- Working knowledge of software such as Surpac, AutoCAD and GIS programs.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.
The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and corporate objectives.
