The Company Seeks the Services of a Senior Sectional Mineralogist x1

Job Purpose

The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Perform specialized mineralogical examinations, including sulphide, oxide, and gangue mineralogy, in accordance with standard procedures and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) requirements.
  • Conduct mineralogical analysis using equipment such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD) machines, electron microscopes, transmitted and reflected light microscopes, and binocular microscopes.
  • Interpret mineralogical phases and generate comprehensive technical reports based on analytical findings.
  • Utilize and interpret data using critical mineralogical databases and specialized software tools.
  • Supervise and support the work of Senior Mineralogist Officers to ensure accuracy and efficiency in laboratory operations.
  • Understand and support the bulk density determination process for both powdered and solid samples.
  • Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and laboratory best practices.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance checks across all mineralogical sampling, preparation, and analysis activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all data is properly retained and traceable.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment, ensuring full compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Participate actively in departmental cost control initiatives.
  • Monitor and update assigned leading safety indicators in accordance with supervisory directives.
  • Embrace continuous improvement through training, professional development, and technical reading.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Degree in Metallurgy, geology, Process chemistry.
  • Member of EIZ or ERB
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in mineralogy laboratory mining, metallurgical and environmental control Laboratory.
  • Good Problem-solving skills.
  • All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority.

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and corporate objectives.
