The Company Seeks the Services of a Senior Systems Developer x1

Job Purpose

The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Design, develop, and manage in-house databases and support outsourced systems’ databases
  • Implement and maintain high availability using MS SQL Server Always-on Clustering
  • Manage databases hosted on Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL and related services
  • Optimize performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization
  • Automate and manage regular backups, including transaction logs, TDF backups, and shrinking
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and failover strategies to minimize downtime
  • Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure database health and system stability
  • Enforce database access controls and backup retention policies
  • Implement best practices for data privacy, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Design and support reports using SSRS and Power BI.
  • Assist business units with data extraction and analysis for decision-making
  • Support development and maintenance of data models for analytics
  • Automate administrative tasks using T-SQL and Python where applicable
  • Monitor system performance and proactively resolve potential issues.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field from a reputable institution
  • 3 years of hands-on technical experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Solid experience with SSRS, SSAS, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Practical experience with SQL Server Always-on Clustering and backup automation strategies
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, and Python programming.
  • Demonstrated experience managing databases in Microsoft Azure, including performance tuning and cost optimization
  • All academic qualifications should be verified and certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority
  • Grade 12 Certificate

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and corporate objectives.
