The Company Seeks the Services of a Shift Boss RBS x 3

Job Purpose

The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:

•    Examining work and safety instructions entered in the logbook by the previous shift and acknowledges by signing.

•    Liaising regularly with other departments, to arrange for availability and maintenance of machines and other technical work to assist in the efficient running of the section.

•    Visiting all working places and travelling ways within his section and ensures that stopping, development, tramming and other operations are being carried out and will continue to be carried out as planned and in accordance with regulations. Makes decisions on methods and procedure of operations and notes materials requirements.

•    Examining ventilation ways, travelling ways, magazines, powder and fuse boxes, First Aid containers, haulages and general tidiness of the section and makes relevant reports.

•    Regularly checks and notes the deployment and productivity of all subordinate employees.

•    Issuing instructions to Section Bosses as regards the days’ sectional activities and discusses important work related matters with Mine Captain.

•    Processing transfers of personnel between sections and initiating complaints for serious breaches of discipline.

•    Attending all training programmes organised by either Mining training or the operating sections themselves.

•    Ensuring all mining safety regulations are observed.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

•    Grade 12 Certificate.

•    Good communication skills.

•    Ability to work under minimum supervision

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
