Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Sharad Kumar Gargiya is a versatile corporate leader with over 26 years of experience in the metals and mining industry, leading high-performance teams, developing and executing strategic initiatives, driving business excellence, and imbedding cultural transformation in corporate teams across the globe.

He was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Mopani Copper Mines PLC in August 2024, assuming responsibility of overseeing the company’s overall financial performance, procurement and the information technology functions.

Prior to joining Mopani, Mr. Gargiya contributed significantly to unlocking business value through his leadership and strategic roles at Vedanta Resources for 24 years in various business units, including Telecom Cable, Copper (including 8 years in Zambia at Konkola Copper Mines), Aluminium, Power and Zinc businesses of the group. He has previously worked for JSP group and spent considerable time with Mozambique’s leading coking coal operations.

Mr. Gargiya is renowned for having a track record of adopting best-in-class technologies and processes to increase efficiencies and optimise cost with a special focus on promoting automation and digitalisation of operational activities.
