Chief Services Officer

Mr. Matebele is a consummate human resource practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry’s human capital development function.

His core competencies include identification of staff training needs, designing of supervisory and management training programmes, management and implementation of performance appraisal systems as well as administration of human resource policies, disciplinary and grievance procedures, industrial relations, collective bargaining, and human capital planning.

Mr. Matebele is team builder and player who joined the mining industry in 1990 as Senior Education and Training Officer (Technical Training) under Mufulira Division, and rose through the ranks to the position of Employee Relations Superintendent before serving in various management positions.

Prior to being appointed Mopani Chief Services Officer in 2024, Mr. Matebele held several management positions at Mopani, including Corporate Affairs Manager (2012 – 2015), Research and Reporting Manager (2015 – 2016), and most recently Human Resource Manager (2021 – 2024). He is the current chairperson of the Mopani Copper Mines PLC Pension Fund Board of Trustees (since June 2021).
