- One of the deepest shafts ever sunk in Zambia at 1547metres
- Total project cost circa US$ 277 million
- Commenced in 2014
- Shaft development completed in March 2019 and currently hoisting waste and ore
- Shaft has a hoisting capacity of 3million tonnes per annum once production is ramped up
- The project has added at least 25 years to the economic life of the Mufulira Mine, and expected to:
- Sustain current jobs with a possibility of creating new jobs
- Protect various businesses that are mining related in Mufulira and beyond
- Sustain Mopani’s contribution to national development
