MCM MUFULIRA SCHOOL CLINCHES 2025 CSA QUIZ CHAMPIONSHIP

Mopani Copper Mines PLC’s MCM Mufulira Secondary School has emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 Copperbelt Schools Association (CSA) Top of the Form Quiz Competition, outshining six other schools in a tightly contested final.

This year’s CSA quiz competition, hosted at MCM Mufulira Secondary School, featured nine diverse categories: Physics, ICT, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Biology, Chemistry, Spelling, Social Studies, and Business Studies.

The event brought together the top-performing finalist schools from across the Copperbelt and Central provinces. Out of a possible 54 points, MCM Mufulira Secondary School scored 36 points. Kalulushi Trust School followed closely with 34 points to claim second place, while Kabwe Trust School secured third place with 30 points. MCM Nkana Secondary School took fourth place, followed by Ndola Trust School in fifth, and Luanshya Trust School rounding out the standings.

Top of the Form (ToF) Competition Coordinator, Mr. Soka Hara, described this year’s competition as one of the most competitive in recent years, noting how the top two teams were only separated by a single extra question.

“The competition was a great success and highly competitive. It was so close that we had to resort to a tie-breaker to determine the winner. A challenging Mathematics question was used to break the deadlock between MCM Mufulira Secondary School and Kalulushi Trust School, which speaks to the high calibre of participants this year,” Mr. Hara said.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Copperbelt Schools Association (CSA) Chairperson, Mr. Dassy Habeenzu, congratulated MCM Mufulira Secondary School on their victory and commended all participants for their spirited effort.

“This was a platform where great minds met, where brilliance, accuracy and quick thinking were on full display. It’s not about who didn’t win today, it’s about the opportunity to grow and the courage to participate,” said Mr. Habeenzu.

“In my philosophy, I don’t believe in failure, every participant is a winner. Simply showing up and engaging in this competition reflects a positive and growth-oriented mindset you all have. We look forward to even greater participation and performance from all of you in the next edition, next year.”
