MCTC EXCELS AT THE 2026 TEVISA YOUTH TOURNAMENT
…Earns Top Honours and National Selection
MOPANI Central Training Centre (MCTC) registered remarkable success at the Technical Education, Vocational and Institutional Sports Association (TEVISA) Youth Tournament recently held in Luanshya.
Co-hosted by Technical and Vocational Technical College (TVTC) and Luanshya Technical and Business College (LBTC), the tournament brought together 16 institutions across the country to compete in a variety of sporting disciplines.
MCTC participated in several events, spanning both team and individual categories such as, rugby, football, chess, volleyball, basketball, netball and in various athletics disciplines.
MCTC’s standout achievement came in rugby (gents), where the team clinched 1st position, securing gold medals and the prestigious champions trophy.
In addition to the rugby triumph, MCTC also produced excellent results across other disciplines:
Discus (Gents): 2nd position — Silver Medal — Alinani Silengo
Long Jump (Gents): 2nd position — Silver Medal — Siziba Godfrey
400m Race (Ladies): 3rd position — Bronze Medal — Metricia Katenga
200m Race (Ladies): 2nd position — Silver Medal — Blessings Mulenga
MCTC further received individual recognition, with Daniel Mulenga named Best Performing Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Siziba Godfrey named Best Performing Footballer of the Tournament.
Following the tournament, 19 students and 3 members of staff have been selected to represent TEVISA at the Zambia Federation of University and College Sports (ZAFUCS) Championship.
The selection also positions the team as they prepare for the Confederation of University and College Sports Association (CUCSA) Games, scheduled for June 2026 in Botswana.
Commenting on the success, Dr. Christopher Chileshe, Manager – Training and Development at MCTC, highlighted the significance of the results and urged the selected contingent to maintain focus and consistency.
“We are proud of our athletes for representing MCTC with determination and excellence. These achievements reflect the hard work, coaching, and teamwork that our students demonstrate every day. We congratulate everyone who participated and encourage the selected team to continue training with focus as they prepare to represent TEVISA at the next level,” Dr. Chileshe said.
