MOPANI HAS NOT SUSPENDED TREATMENT FOR NHIMA PATIENTS

Mopani Copper Mines PLC wishes to notify members of the public that it has not stopped attending to patients under the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) at its two hospitals.

At no point have Mopani hospitals – Wusakile Mine Hospital in Kitwe or Malcolm Watson Hospital in Mufulira – suspended treatment for NHIMA patients. Equally, the two hospitals have never turned away any patient seeking medical care under the NHIMA scheme.

To the contrary, Mopani Copper Mines PLC has strengthened its support to NHIMA beneficiaries by establishing dedicated, exclusive NHIMA outpatient clinics at both hospitals. These clinics are specifically designed to efficiently attend to all NHIMA patients presenting as outpatients. This initiative was implemented to enhance service delivery, reduce waiting times, and ensure smooth access to healthcare services for NHIMA members.

In instances where an outpatient case requires specialised or advanced medical intervention, patients are immediately referred to the appropriate specialist clinics at both hospitals, where they continue to receive full medical attention in the same manner as patients covered under other insurance schemes.

Mopani remains fully committed to providing uninterrupted, quality healthcare services to all patients, including NHIMA beneficiaries.
