MOPANI TO ROLL OUT TUKACHIMFYA PAMO ROAD SHOWS

Mopani Copper Mines PLC will soon roll out a series of roadshows at the workplace and in the community to raise awareness around key messages of the TukaChimfya Pamo Culture transformation initiative.

TukaChimfya Pamo is an innovative corporate culture transformation initiative aimed at fostering strong teamwork and collaboration in the workplace, and embodies Mopani’s commitment to transforming workplace culture and fostering a sense of belonging among its workforce.

A team of local artistes operating under the name, Kolonganeni Industrial Theatre Group, will conduct industrial plays to highlight various aspects of the initiative both at Mopani workplaces and at strategic locations in the communities of Kitwe and Mufulira.

The theatre group recently completed a five-day formal training programme at Mopani’s People Growth Centre located at Mindola Dam to acquaint themselves with the TukaChimfya Pamo key messages, which include the pillars, vision and values.

“The Theater Group is not just responsible for delivering the message, but for living it. You are the spearhead of this transformation—helping every Mopani employee, every Kitwe and Mufulira resident and indeed every Zambian citizen to understand the importance of behavioural change in driving safety, productivity and teamwork,” said International Resources Holdings (IRH) Group Head of Health, Safety and Environment, Ulrich Sibilski, in challenging the artistes.

Mr. Sibilski stressed that cultural transformation begins with awareness and behavioural change, both of which the Kolonganeni Industrial Theater Group is uniquely positioned to influence. “Theater has a way of reaching the heart of the message, and as a group, you have the power to bring our vision to life in a way that resonates with every employee.”

Mr. Sibilski was flanked by Mopani’s Head of HSE and ESG, Ms. Glenda Kasonde, Best Practice Underground Manager, Mr. Lawrence Banda, TukaChimfya Pamo Culture Change Champion, Ms. Esther Malama, and several members of the Co-creation team.

In a vote of thanks at the end of the training session, Kolonganeni Industrial Theatre Group spokesperson, Arnold Kapatula commended Mopani for introducing the culture change initiative and assured that her group would perform at the highest level.

“We are equal to the task and we will surely not disappoint you. This will be one of the most interesting projects we will work on because it is focused on the people, created by the people of Mopani for the people of Zambia as a whole. Our group is ready to take this message to all corners of Mopani, Kitwe and Mufulira,” said Mr. Kapatula.

The TukaChimfya Pamo initiative has been rolled out as part of Mopani’s broader strategy for promoting behavioural change and focuses on embedding new co-created shared values and behaviours across all levels of the organization and in the community.

The values, among other things, emphasise on inculcating a culture of Business Wise, Enablement and Empowerment, Safety, Health and Environment, and Togetherness through teamwork in day-to-day operations. The initiative also aims to promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the workforce and the community.
