MOPANI WINS THE KDCCI MINING COMPANY OF THE YEAR

The Kitwe and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KDCCI) has for the eighth time in a row crowned Mopani Copper Mines Plc as the Mining Company of the Year.

Mopani beat competition from other nominated mining companies under the local business association’s umbrella who included, Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) and Chambishi Copper Smelters (CSS) to win the 2023 accolade.

This was at the KDCCI 2023 Annual Awards Gala held on Friday December 1, 2023, held at Garden Court Hotel in Kitwe.

Speaking at KDCCI 2023 Annual Awards Gala Mopani Chief Executive Officer, Charles Sakanya in a speech read on his behalf by Manager-Commercial, Ikayi Menzu, said the company cherishes its long-standing partnership with the KDCCI through which it had been able to strengthen its relationship with all suppliers and contractors in Kitwe.

Mr Sakanya said the Chamber has further provided a united voice for all member organisations thereby providing an avenue that has been critical in shaping Mopani’s policy decisions and intervention activities.

“We remain fully committed to enhancing our partnership with the Chamber and look forward to more avenues for further collaboration in the future,” Mr Sakanya said.

The KDCCI is an association of the business community in Kitwe and some surrounding districts championing the cause for a better business environment and mutual collaboration. Its membership comprises companies in the mining, manufacturing, banking, insurance, service, retail, telecommunications, higher education, hospitality, commercial supply, and engineering sectors.

Mopani has won the KDCCI Mining Company of the Year Award in a row since 2014.
