In a thrilling show of support by their major sponsor, Mopani Copper Mines PLC, “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers Football Club was yesterday presented with a cheque worth K150,000.00 as a reward for their 2-0 triumph against Prison Leopards Football Club in a week 30 MTN Super League match.
The mining company provided the reward as part of motivation for the Mufulira giant to fight their way out of the relegation zone and ensure that the team remains in the Zambian top tier league, come 2024/25 Soccer Season.
Mighty emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against Prison Leopards in an exhilarating match held at Shinde Stadium on April 28, 2024, after a string of losses and draws.
Mr Ulrich Sibilski, Head of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Governance at International Resources Holdings (IRH), accompanied by Ms Lorraine Tembo, Mopani Corporate Affairs Manager, presented the cheque to Club Treasurer, Mr Benson Bwalya who was in the company of Club General Secretary, Mr Mumba Mwila at Mopani Central Offices in Kitwe.
